Description

Ringlight 3000 V2 — Even Light for Macro, Up Close and Personal

A ring light sits around your lens port and illuminates macro subjects from every angle at once — no shadows, no hot spots, no fiddling with arm positions. The Kraken Ringlight 3000 V2 puts 2400 lumens of constant light (3000 in burst) right where your camera is looking, with CRI 80 colour reproduction for clean, natural-looking footage.

The 67mm thread mounts directly to any standard 67mm threaded port — compatible with Olympus TG systems, advanced DSLR rigs, and mirrorless setups alike. Each side of the ring operates independently, so you can adjust brightness left and right to control the light ratio and add dimension to flat macro scenes.

Full WRGBU colour range: White, Red, Green, Blue, UV, and RGB modes. Red for focusing without spooking subjects. UV for fluorescence macro — corals, nudibranchs, and anemones that look completely different under UV. Green as an alternative focus light that some cameras lock onto faster than red.

Key Features

  • Ring design eliminates shadows: Light comes from every direction around the lens — no arm positioning, no guesswork, no shadows falling across your subject
  • 2400 lumens constant / 3000 lumens burst: Burst mode syncs via fiber optic cable to your camera’s flash for a quick brightness spike on macro stills
  • CRI 80 @ 5600K: Good colour reproduction for a ring light at this price — clean, natural-looking footage without the heavy green cast of cheaper LEDs
  • WRGBU + UV modes: White, Red, Green, Blue, UV, and RGB — same colour channels as the Hydra line, in a ring form factor
  • Independent left/right control: Adjust brightness on each side separately to create subtle shading and depth on flat macro subjects
  • 67mm threaded mount: Attaches directly to standard 67mm lens ports — Olympus TG, mirrorless, DSLR
  • 3-button control: Same intuitive interface as Hydra and LTD lights, with battery level indicator

Burst Mode — Fiber-Optic Triggered

Sync via fiber optic cable to your camera’s built-in flash and the Ringlight fires a quick, bright pulse timed to your shutter. Recycle is fast. The difference from a dedicated strobe is flash duration — a xenon strobe fires in microseconds, which freezes motion. Burst fires longer, so very fast subjects won’t be frozen as sharply. For macro work on nudibranchs, shrimp, and other relatively slow subjects, it gives you a meaningful brightness spike that continuous light alone cannot produce.

Use Cases

  • Macro photography: The ring form factor eliminates the shadow problem that dual-arm setups create. Light from every angle, no arms to position
  • Fluorescence macro: UV mode reveals fluorescence in corals, anemones, and nudibranchs — subjects that look completely different under UV than under white light
  • Olympus TG systems: Thread directly onto the 67mm port and you’re shooting — no tray, no arms, no fuss
  • Close-focus wide-angle: Add a ring of colour-balanced fill light to subjects that are too close for dual-arm strobes to cover evenly
