Abyss 6000: white light for underwater video
The Kraken Abyss 6000 is for divers who want to light their subjects without working through a menu of colour modes. It delivers up to 6,000 lumens of white flood light through a 120° beam, with a rotary brightness control and USB-C charging. For an action-camera rig or a dedicated video setup, it is a straightforward way to bring light to nearby subjects.
Bring back colour where you are shooting
Water absorbs colour as light travels through it. Bringing a video light close to your subject helps reveal detail and colour that ambient light alone may not show. The Abyss 6000 combines a wide beam with CRI 90 colour rendering, giving you a useful starting point for lighting reef detail, divers and close-focus wide-angle scenes.
Your results still depend on subject distance, water clarity, light position and camera settings. Get close, aim the lights to limit backscatter, and adjust exposure and white balance for the scene. A good video light gives you more control at capture; it does not automatically remove the need for colour correction.
One light or two?
One Abyss 6000 keeps an action-camera rig compact and gives you one light to position. Two lights let you illuminate from both sides of the camera and adjust each position independently. That can help with broader compositions and managing shadows, but adds weight, mounting hardware and a second battery to look after.

Use the output you need
The rotary control offers 11 brightness levels from 0–100%. Rated runtime is 30 minutes at full power or 45 minutes at 80%. Plan around the time you will have the light switched on, rather than assuming maximum output will last an entire dive.
Low-battery and thermal protection can reduce brightness. Actual runtime varies with battery condition and operating conditions. The removable battery pack supports USB-C charging; a compatible spare lets you swap packs between dives.
Abyss or Hydra?
Choose the Abyss 6000 when continuous white-light video is your priority and you prefer simple brightness control. Choose a Hydra 3000 V2 when you want wide and spot beams, auto flash-off for focus-light use with strobes, and colour modes for creative work. The Abyss offers more white flood output; the Hydra offers a different set of tools.
The Abyss also has a listed burst output of 7,000 lumens. Burst mode is separate from continuous video lighting. If flash photography is your main purpose, compare a dedicated underwater strobe rather than choosing a video light on its burst-output figure alone.
