Download the manual: KR-S160 Manual
The KR-S160 packs 160Ws into a package that includes a Sea&Sea sync port, OLED display, and circular flash tube — features typically found only on strobes at significantly higher price points. Manual-only operation is a feature, not a limitation: predictable power, every shot.
160 watt-seconds. OLED display. Sea&Sea sync port. The serious option.
The KR-S160 doubles the power of the S80 — 160Ws vs 80Ws — and is built for photographers who need to properly expose large subjects, wide-angle shots at distance, or demanding ambient light situations. Like the S80, it’s fully manual: S1 and S2 optical slave modes, no TTL. You set the power, it fires at that power.
The step-up over the S80 isn’t just output. The S160 uses a 7.2V Li-ion pack (vs. dual 21700s), features an OLED display instead of 7-segment, adds a Sea&Sea sync port alongside the fiber optic port, and swaps the flood video light for a focused 15° spot light — better for precise focus in low ambient situations than a wide flood. Multi mode enables rapid sequential firing for schools of fish or fast-moving subjects. An optional warming filter is available for warmer skin tones and coral colours.
Key Features:
- 160 Ws, Manual Power Control: 7 main levels (40 / 80 / 160 Ws) with 9 fine-adjustment steps between each. Precise exposure control for demanding conditions.
- OLED Display: Clearer and more readable than 7-segment displays, visible from any mount angle (180° rotatable).
- Sea&Sea + Fiber Optic Sync Ports: Connects via Sea&Sea cable (for housed DSLR/mirrorless shooters) or standard 7mm/M11 fiber optic port.
- 500-Lumen Spot Focus Light: 15° narrow beam, 2 brightness levels. Precise focus targeting in low ambient light — different from the S80’s wide flood.
- S1 / S2 / Multi Optical Slave: Manual only — no TTL. Syncs optically with camera flash or master strobe.
- Optional Warming Filter: Shifts colour temperature toward warmer tones. Useful for portrait subjects and certain coral shots.
- Includes: Ball mount, YS adapter, sync cord port, fiber optic port cover, spare O-rings.
