Description
Hydra 1800+WSR — Dive Light and Macro Spot, One Compact Torch
1800 lumens of flood light. 1500 lumens of spot. Red mode for night diving. Auto flash-off for shooting with strobes. The Hydra 1800+WSR is two useful beams in a compact 205g torch — flood for general diving, spot for navigation and signaling, and a feature set designed for divers who shoot macro with strobes.
The 21700 battery gives you longer runtime than older 18650 cells, and USB-C charging means no cradle to lose — plug in the cable and you’re ready for the next dive. The upgraded 1800-lumen output replaces the previous Hydra 1500 with more brightness in the same form factor.
Key Features
- Dual beam: 1800 lumens flood (110°) + 1500 lumens spot (20°) — wide illumination for diving, tight beam for navigation and signaling
- Auto flash-off: The light detects when your strobe fires and automatically turns off for a fraction of a second, preventing your video light from blowing out your macro shots. Enable or disable based on your preference
- Red mode: Preserves night vision and won’t disturb marine life on night dives. Also works as a focus light for macro photography
- USB-C charging: No cradle, no external charger — charge directly with any USB-C PD cable
- 21700 battery: Higher capacity than 18650 cells, longer runtime between charges
- Single push-button control: Flood → Spot → Red, with battery level indicator
- Compact: 205g on land, 105g underwater — won’t weigh you down
- Depth rated to 100m / 330ft
Auto Flash-Off — How It Works
When enabled, the Hydra 1800+WSR detects the flash from your strobe and turns off momentarily, so your video light doesn’t compete with your strobe exposure. This is especially useful for macro shooters who run a constant video light for aiming but also fire a strobe for the actual exposure. No more blown-out highlights from your focus light. The feature can be toggled on or off — use it when you need it, turn it off when you don’t.
Safety Modes
Like every Kraken light, the Hydra 1800+WSR includes three built-in emergency signaling modes accessed by holding the power button — Pulsing Strobe, SOS, and Rapid Blink. On the surface after a dive, these are the modes that get you found.

Use Cases
- Macro photography with strobes: Auto flash-off means your video light doesn’t blow out your strobe exposures — the torch detects your strobe firing and pauses momentarily
- Backup dive light: Compact enough to carry on every dive as a secondary light, powerful enough to serve as a primary
- Navigation and signaling: Spot mode reaches further than any flood beam — useful for marking position, signaling boats, or looking into dark spaces
- Night diving: Red mode preserves night vision and won’t disturb nocturnal marine life
Accessories
